最近ファンが若干変な音するし、負荷が上がると同時に凄い勢いでCPUの温度も上がるし、本格的に壊れてもらったらとてもとても困るので、その前にとMacbookを分解掃除しました。下手にやって逆に壊してしまったら嫌だなぁと少しナーバスだったんですが、やったら意外と簡単でしたよ。このページを参考に、慎重に慎重に遂行しました。

Google Buzz、みなさん試しに使ってみてますか？とりあえず、面白がってコメントしたものの、その後どんどんGmailのinboxにBuzzが流れてくるのが鬱陶しいと思っている人も沢山いるんじゃないでしょうか。いちいちMuteするのも面倒ですよね。デフォルトでMute選べたらいいんですけど。けど、自分のBuzzへのコメントは見ておきたいかもしれません。そんな方はうまいことフィルターを設定しましょう。

Honestly, I was so disappointed at Apple’s new product iPad. It’s not for me. But I realized what market this product is for.
I don’t need this because of battery, size, function. This device is just a big iPod touch. You will need Kindle (or other e-book device), smart phone and laptop. If you don’t want to bring both Kindle and laptop, even after you can compromise with e-book and laptop, iPad is your solution. But I can’t compromise this way. They said “better than the laptop, better than the smartphone.” This is, however, “worse than the laptop, worse than the smartphone“, unfortunately.

I misunderstood that I could call for free with Google Voice. But even if you use GV for your call, it uses your mobile phone call, so you will use your minutes or be charged. I intended to save money by using the technic I wrote yesterday. But T-mobile don’t allow you to contract data only plan without Social Security Number. I didn’t know that. Actually, T-mobile website says “If you do not wish to provide your Social Security number, you may purchase your phone in one of our T-Mobile retail stores.” so I though I could buy SIM card with data only plan in T-mobile store. But I couldn’t.

I installed Snow Leopard today. I had no idea about compatibilities of the softwares I used, but I was so temptable that I couldn’t wait….

Software for music creation:

安全を期す為、様子を見てからと思ってたにも関わらず、誘惑に負けてSnow Leopardインストールしちゃいました。クリーンインストールではなく、Leopardからのアップグレードでインストールしました。所要時間は約1時間でした。滞りなく完了。Gizmodeの記事で2回失敗したとか書いてあってドキドキしたけど、そんな事はなかった。見た目はLeopardとほぼ変わらず。そのままLeopardで再起動しちゃったって記事も見てたから、About This Macでわざわざ確認までしましたよ。
アップグレードする前に

• Disk utilityでパーティションの修復
• Time Machineとかでバックアップ

しておくと良いと思う。→参考。使用した感想は

• 動作は非常に軽快。快適でございます。特にSafariサクサク。
• SIMBL動かないからかも。→結構不便。慣れの問題か。
• HDDの空き容量が9GB増えました。嬉しい。
• 殆どのソフトそのまま動いてる。安心。
• ただ、KeyRemap4MacBookがうまく動かないのが一番痛い。
• シャットダウンが驚く程早い。
• 起動は少し遅くなった？前から最近遅かったかも→色々起動しすぎ。

って感じで、勇気を出してインストールしてよかったよかった。新機能とかは既に散々語られてるから割愛。また、音楽関連では

先週のLanguage exchangeのセッションで教えて貰った言葉「Google-fu」。Googleはご存じの通り。それに、中国拳法：カンフー”Kung-fu”の”fu”を足して「Google-fu」。it means someone’s capability for google. いかにうまくグーグルが使えるか。ability to find things quickly and easily, particularly difficult things. ちょっとgeekな言葉らしいけど、なんか面白い。

日本語におけるGoogle-fuには自信があるが、英語でのGoogle-fuは全く勝手が違ってダメダメです。私のLanguage exchange partnerの場合は逆に英語でのGoogle-fuは問題ないが、日本語で検索するのは難しいって。そりゃそうよね。言語が違うと検索技術も全然違うという当たり前のことを確認。いや、前々から分かってはいましたけどね。海外での生活を考えたり留学について考えたり現地のことを調べたり、日本語になるまえのニュースを調べたりということをしようとすると、どうしても英語で検索する必要性が出てきます。英語の情報の方が圧倒的に多いですから、日本語のGoogle-fuを失ってでも英語のGoogle-fuが欲しいくらい。
