what I did and what happened :

iDefrag uses fsck command when you execute “Verify” and “Repair” in iDefrag menu. Even while fsck doesn’t detect errors, why iDefrag detects errors? What weird is that fsck detects errors after trying to defragment with iDefrag even while it detected no error befor trying to defragment with iDefrag. It seems like that iDefrag makes inconsistence?

Anyway, it’s in progress. I’d like to emphasize that their support is very good. kind and quick response. I wish the problem will be resolved so that I can report on this blog. Thank you Chris@coriolis-systems!!

購入したのはこれとこれ。

分解も2回目となると慣れたもの。必要なものを準備準備。

上はヒートシンクを外したところ。シリコングリスは完全にカピカピになってました。こんな作業は初めてなのでどういう状態が通常なのか、これが異常なのか正常なのかはわかりませんが、事前学習の知識によると、多分これはシリコングリス多すぎるだろうと思います。でもって、状態も良くない。

綺麗に拭きとりまして、上の状態。チップセットとCPU。こんなにキラキラ綺麗なものだとは思ってませんでした。素敵。この上に、届いた銀5%のThermal pastを薄く塗り伸ばします。塗った後の写真撮り忘れましたが、かなり綺麗に塗れました。気を付けたのは2点

・しっかり全体に
・がしかし、できるだけ薄く、平らに

このビデオを参考にBuisiness cardを用意していたんですが、他のサイトで推奨されてた「人差し指にラップを巻いて」という方法の方がよかったです。Business cardではビデオのようにうまく広がりませんでしたし、指でやった方が細やかに作業できました。ペーストの粘度によるんでしょうけど。

作業ののち、組み立てる前にとりあえずキーボードだけ装着、電源コードをつないで起動してみる。ちゃんと適用できてなくて異常な温度とかにならないかだけチェック。全然問題なかったので元通りに組み立てて作業完了。全部で70分かかりました。

そもそも、どんくらい熱かったかと言うと、高負荷時にCPU温度100度近く上がり、作業を続けていたらずっと94度とか。通常時でも起動後暫くしたら常に60度前後状態で安定するという状態でした。Youtubeで動画再生するだけで70度超えちゃう感じ。で、結果どうなったかというと、びっくり仰天。そんなに変わる？という感じ。起動後しばらく経っても50度前後で安定。Youtubeで動画再生している現在60度切ってます。負荷最大をキープしたら86度で安定。温度が上がっても下がるの早い。最大負荷時で8度も温度が下がり、通常時大体10度下がった。よっぽどシリコングリスがダメになってたんだろうな。暑くなる前に解決できてよかったです。ファンも新しくなって、高回転時のノイズが小さくなりました。精神衛生上もかなりよろしいです。

ちなみに負荷最大を作った方法ですが、Chromeで何かダウンロードするときに新規で空タブが開いたらCPU使用率が限りなく100%に近づきます。そのタブを閉じるまで終わりません。どんなバグって感じですが、100%再現します。うちの環境だけ？(Mac OS X 10.6.2, Chrome 5.0.307.11)あとYoutubeで動画再生時の負荷ですがChromeだと異常に高い。その他のブラウザではそこまで…という感じ。けど高い。それでもChrome使ってるのは動画見る機会少ないから。Skypeでビデオチャットしてても負荷が高いので動画のデコードで使ってるCodecの問題とかなのかなーとか思いつつ、まだ解決方法が見つからない。というかあるのかどうかも分からない。これも解決したい問題の一つ。

色々調べてた印象では、負荷最大キープで86度というのもまだ高い気がする。けど、もうこれ以上にすることなんて思いつかない。前も書いた通りこのMacBookはあと数年使わないといけないので、健康には気を付けたい。

最近ファンが若干変な音するし、負荷が上がると同時に凄い勢いでCPUの温度も上がるし、本格的に壊れてもらったらとてもとても困るので、その前にとMacbookを分解掃除しました。下手にやって逆に壊してしまったら嫌だなぁと少しナーバスだったんですが、やったら意外と簡単でしたよ。このページを参考に、慎重に慎重に遂行しました。

それぞれのネジが紛失しないように、セロテープで机に張付け、どこのネジか分かるように上記ページの作業番号を記入しておきました。開けてみたところ、思ってたよりは汚くない。もっと凄い埃を想像（というか、むしろ期待）してたので、掃除したところで症状が改善するのか逆に不安になりました。

柔らかい歯ブラシとかを駆使して掃除しました（そんなことしていいのかよく分からないけど）。ほーらこんな綺麗に…

掃除前の写真はまだファンを外してませんが、このファンを外したところにある通気口に一番埃が溜まっています。ここを掃除するのが一番肝心なのではないかと。しかしここも、左右の限られたところが詰まってるって感じで7割がた埃による詰まりは無かったんですけどね。さて、掃除後の効果としては

• ファンの若干変な音は、マシになった気がしますが、まだ少し変な音がする気も。もともとこんなもんだったかなー？
• 少なくとも、高負荷時のファンの騒音はだいぶ減りました。
• 掃除前よりもキーボード周辺から吸い込まれる空気を感じる。（外したキーボードの裏の埃とかもちゃんと掃除したからかな。下の写真）
• 平常時のCPU温度が7,8℃下がった。
• Flash系動画再生時に下手したら、速攻90℃くらいになることもあったが、温度上昇が緩やかになって、Youtube何個もいっぺに再生してみたりして負荷を上げても80℃くらいで落ち着くようになった。
• なんだか気分的に清々しい。

このMacBook買ったのが2007年の11月だったので、結構経ちます。ただ、2008年の年末に一度修理に出しているのでその時掃除してくれてたとしたら、1年数カ月でこの埃がたまったことに。いやはや、分解掃除結構定期的にした方がいいのかもしれませぬ。留学中はこのMacbookで何とかしのがなければいけないので、物理的駆動部があるファンとHDDをちゃんとメンテナンス（ファン掃除しても温度上昇や騒音が治らなければ置換、HDDはちゃんとTime machineでバックアップ。）して健全な長寿Macライフを送ろうと思います。

fromに”-”（マイナス）と自分のアドレスを（”-example@gmail.com” みたいな感じ）、Has the wordsに”label:buzz”と入力し、Next stepへ。何か要らんおせっかいメッセージが出てきますが、OKを押します。あとは、Skip the inboxでもdeleteでもお好きにどうぞ。label:mutedを適用できればmuteできるかと思ったけど、予約済みってことで設定できず。むー。オススメはmark as read, skip the inbox, apply the label “commented buzz”とかして、後からコメントしたBuzzだけまとめて見れるようにするのが良いのではないでしょうか。

Gmail受信すると携帯がいちいちなるので、Buzz返信ごとに鳴るのは無理ということで、フィルターを設定することにしました。mark as readせずにskip the inboxでラベル適用、未読はGmailで目視、という運用でいこうと思います。followerが多くて、自分のBuzzのコメントもinboxには遠慮したい、むしろコメント残したBuzzの行く末の方が気になるって場合も同じようにフィルターでうまく運用出来ますね。Gmailプラットフォーム上にあるお陰で使い勝手はかなり良い。Buzz用の新しいUIもかなりよく出来ていると思います。基本的にはBuzz気に入っています。

I don’t need this because of battery, size, function. This device is just a big iPod touch. You will need Kindle (or other e-book device), smart phone and laptop. If you don’t want to bring both Kindle and laptop, even after you can compromise with e-book and laptop, iPad is your solution. But I can’t compromise this way. They said “better than the laptop, better than the smartphone.” This is, however, “worse than the laptop, worse than the smartphone“, unfortunately.

This is not a device for those people who own a smartphone, who bring their laptop always, who are reading this article. But I realized that iPad is a device for those people who don’t have their own computers, who need only web and email, who are light user. Of couse, if you have extra money, this is a gorgeous gadget for your living room. It may be sit on your table in front of TV or bedside table or maybe bathroom. lol

It will be a nice gift for your parents, grandparents, or friends who are not familiar with technology. iPad has possibility to bridge the digital divide gap. Especially, for those people who don’t have way to access to the internet from their home, iPad is really good product. By iPad, they can use the internet thorough AT&T network only for $29.99.

After realizing this market, I understood why Apple decided its price so small. iPad will be just wanted but won’t be needed by the people who are familiar with technology and rich, and can be a necessary tool for digital-divided people.

But, as you can make a free call at GV web site, you can do it on your cellphone, if a browser you use on your cell can change its User Agent. I think you already understood my solution. My browser on my Android phone is Dolphin Browser, which can change its UA. When you access to www.google.com/voice by cellphone, normally you will be redirected to www.google.com.voice/m . On this mobile page, there is no “Call” button. If you change browser’s UA as Desktop, redirecting don’t happen and you can watch the GV page for desktop computer, on which “Call” button is. Now you can make a unlimited free call just by pressing “Call” button.

I can’t believe that they differentiate mobile web from desktop web this definitely. Those are getting really close and there will be no gap soon. Differentiating mobile web from the normal internet is very unnatural and idiot.

I realized that even when you use Skype Out on Android, it will be done, using mobile phone’s local call. not through the internet. UNBELIEVABLE!!!! I planned to make calls by using Skype out, but it doesn’t make sense. Then I don’t need Skype In number or monthly contract with Skype anymore. I wanted to pick up a Skype call from Japan by routing it through my mobile, but it costs too much to do just that thing. If you want to make a Skype call to me, just send me an email, then I will turn Skype app on.

I’ll get Nexus One tomorrow. Then I’ll go to T-Mobile to get a SIM card. I will contract with T-Mobile only for internet & email plan ($39.99, w/o calling pack). I will pick up all calls using Skype. I have gizmo5 account, so I can rout GV number through Skype, but through Gizmo5 router, the quality of sounds gets a little worse and there’s a time lag. If these 2 problems don’t happen, I don’t need Skype In number.. but it’s OK. Still I can save much money.

In original article LH referred, author said that you need SkypeOut mobile/landline subscription. However, using GV, you can call out for free inside us already. so don’t waste $2.45/month. you just need Skype In number. If you use Gizmo5, you can rout call to Skype, but I don’t recommend it because of the sound quality and time lag.

しておくと良いと思う。→参考。使用した感想は

• 動作は非常に軽快。快適でございます。特にSafariサクサク。
• SIMBL動かないからかも。→結構不便。慣れの問題か。
• HDDの空き容量が9GB増えました。嬉しい。
• 殆どのソフトそのまま動いてる。安心。
• ただ、KeyRemap4MacBookがうまく動かないのが一番痛い。
• シャットダウンが驚く程早い。
• 起動は少し遅くなった？前から最近遅かったかも→色々起動しすぎ。

って感じで、勇気を出してインストールしてよかったよかった。新機能とかは既に散々語られてるから割愛。また、音楽関連では
