Users of “Insane Komplete 5″ are clever

Native Instruments announced new products – Kontakt 5, Absysnth 5, Guitar Rig 4 Pro and Komplete 6 containing these new instruments. As you know, this summer NI offered the insane sale for Komplete 5. It was $399 containing Absysnth 4, Akoustic Piano, B4 II, Battery 3, FM8, Guitar Rig 3, Kontakt 3, Massive, Pro-53 and Reactor 5. Surprisingly, new Komplete 6 is $559. Komplete 2,3,4,5 users can upgrade to Komplete 6 for $169. You might think Komplete 6 is $568 in the end and YOU WERE INSANE. Don’t jump to the conclusion. It’s not true.
New Komplete 6 does NOT include Akoustik Piano, B4 II and Pro-53. Can you buy those three products for only 9 dollars? Of course not. The users of “Insane Komplete 5″ are clever. However it can be said only if you can utilize the products.

Snow Leopard Compatibility

I installed Snow Leopard today. I had no idea about compatibilities of the softwares I used, but I was so temptable that I couldn’t wait….

This entry is for people who want to make sure about compatibilities. let’s go simply.

Software for music creation:

M-Audio – FireWire solo, ProKeys88sx
Apple – Logic Pro 8
Spectrasonic – Omnisphere, Stylus
Vienna instruments
EastWest – PLAY
Native Instruments – Absysnth 4, Akoustic Piano, B4 II, Battery 3, Elektrik Piano, FM8, Guitar Rig 3, Kontakt 3, Massive, Pro-53, Reaktor 5

These software and hardware above work well with Snow Leopard. I cannot say exactly because I checked those very easily.

Steinberg – Virtual Guitarist2, Groove Agent 3

Unfortunately, steinberg’s products I had didn’t work. It could run, but didn’t put sound out.

Snow Leopardインストールしてみて

安全を期す為、様子を見てからと思ってたにも関わらず、誘惑に負けてSnow Leopardインストールしちゃいました。クリーンインストールではなく、Leopardからのアップグレードでインストールしました。所要時間は約1時間でした。滞りなく完了。Gizmodeの記事で2回失敗したとか書いてあってドキドキしたけど、そんな事はなかった。見た目はLeopardとほぼ変わらず。そのままLeopardで再起動しちゃったって記事も見てたから、About This Macでわざわざ確認までしましたよ。

アップグレードする前に

Disk utilityでパーティションの修復
Time Machineとかでバックアップ

しておくと良いと思う。→参考。使用した感想は

動作は非常に軽快。快適でございます。特にSafariサクサク。
SIMBL動かないからかも。→結構不便。慣れの問題か。
HDDの空き容量が9GB増えました。嬉しい。
殆どのソフトそのまま動いてる。安心。
ただ、KeyRemap4MacBookがうまく動かないのが一番痛い。
シャットダウンが驚く程早い。
起動は少し遅くなった？前から最近遅かったかも→色々起動しすぎ。

って感じで、勇気を出してインストールしてよかったよかった。新機能とかは既に散々語られてるから割愛。また、音楽関連では

この2つは、起動できたものの音が鳴らない。残念…。アップデート待つ。あんまし使ってないから大丈夫。

とりあえず、Leopardから引き続き使って問題ないソフト。思いつくままに。
